Muammad Al-Fatih (Mehmed II the Conqueror – may Allah have mercy on him), a Muslim ruler during the Ottoman Empire, was renowned for his intelligence, valour, righteousness, piety, and humility. At the age of 23, he was able to conquer Constantinople when many others had failed. At the end of his life (passed away at the age of 49), he advised his son, saying:

“Here I am dying, but I am not sorry because I have left you behind.” Be righteous, just, and merciful. Donate liberally to the people and defend them without discrimination. The kings of the world are obligated to propagate Islam. Give religion the highest priority and do not grow weary in its pursuit. Do not appoint those who are indifferent to religion and abstain from major sins, as well as those who have immersed themselves in wickedness and evil innovations. Extend the borders of our nation through Jihad and ensure that the wealth of the treasury is not squandered. Never extend your hand to the wealth of a member of the populace unless permitted by Islamic law. Guarantee the weak for their strength, and give freely to those who deserves. “
