Benefit of Reading Surah Kahf on Friday

Surah al Kahf is the 18th Surah of the Qur’an, and it narrates the account of young believers who accepted the word of Truth when they received it. However, they were to suffer vengeance from the society they lived in, so they fled the city and sought refuge in a cave, where Allah Almighty provided them with centuries of sleep, and their entire city converted to Islam. This Surah conveys the idea that individuals who believe in Allah and ask for His protection will receive the best protection the world has ever seen.
There is a lot of benefit of reciting Surah Al-Kahf. Today we will discuss few of them.
This is a great time to start reading Surah Al-Kahf if you haven’t before. It is made up of various stories that are full with lovely messages that we can utilise in our daily lives. From a narrative about young people who put their faith in Allah (swt), through a story about a man who refused God’s bounties on his beautiful garden, to the story of Prophet Musa (pbuh) and Khidr, which emphasises the significance of knowing Allah’s wisdom. Everything is covered in this chapter.
According to a narration from the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), whomever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays would be enlightened for the rest of the week until the next Friday (al-Jaami). Furthermore, everyone who memorises and recites Surah Al-Kahf will be safe from the Dajjal and will have his sins pardoned from one Friday to the next (al-Mundhiri). The value of reading Surah Al-Kahf can be seen from these narrations.

However, I’d like to look more closely at one of the stories in Surah Al Kahf so that we can take something away from this article that we can apply to our lives. That concludes the tale of the man with two lovely gardens. This man was a wealthy and successful businessman. He not only possessed vineyards, but he also had date trees protecting his vineyards. Dates and grapes were among the most valuable commodities available at the time. He not only had these lovely gardens, but Allah swt had also placed rivers within them, so he didn’t have to rely on rain. This man also possessed horses and carriages, children, and wealth from other companies in addition to these two fields with flowing rivers. You couldn’t ask for a more ideal situation. But what happened to him as a result of his wealth?
He was talking to a friend one day. And he tells his pal that he is the one who built everything. He’d amassed quite a collection. He was wealthier than his friend, and he was the father of more children. The man lost sight of the fact that Allah swt had provided him with everything he had and began to credit his success to himself. He gets arrogant and conceited. And we all know that arrogance is one of the biggest crimes in Islam. He goes on to remark, “I don’t believe these gardens or this palace will ever die.” He was so enamoured with his wealth and success that he began to doubt the Day of Judgment. And what is Allah’s response?
Allah swt inflicts a punishment on the guy, destroying his garden. And this occurred immediately after he boasted to his friend. And the man loses everything he has, including one of the most magnificent gardens in the world. And the man wished he hadn’t been so arrogant, but it was too late. So, what can we take away from all of this?
As we achieve goals in life, we must always credit Allah for our accomplishment. We must always be grateful to Allah and recognise that Allah is the source of our prosperity, wealth, and wisdom. We must also remain modest and appreciative. The importance of humility and gratitude cannot be overstated.
