How to make the most of Fridays as a Practicing Muslim?
2 min read
As a Muslim, you can make the best use of your Friday from morning to night to earn maximum reward by focusing on acts of worship and good deeds. Here’s a suggested plan to make the most of your day:
- Fajr Prayer and Dhikr: Start your day by waking up for Fajr prayer and go to the masjid, the pre-dawn prayer, and engage in the remembrance of Allah (Dhikr) after the prayer.
- Recitation and Reflection: Spend some time after Fajr engaging in the recitation and reflection of the Quran. Try to understand its meaning and apply its teachings to your life.
- Charity and Sadaqah: After sunrise, give charity or perform acts of kindness. Even a small act of charity can carry significant rewards.
- Jumu’ah Prayer: Attend the Friday congregational prayer (Jumu’ah) at the mosque or a place of worship. Listen attentively to the Khutbah (sermon) and pray the two Rak’ahs Sunnah after the Jumu’ah prayer.
- Du’a (Supplication): Spend some time making heartfelt du’as to Allah, seeking forgiveness, guidance, and blessings for yourself and others. Allah accepts your dua on Friday.
- Studying Islam: Utilize part of your day to learn more about Islam and its teachings. This can be done through reading books, attending lectures, or watching Islamic educational videos.
- Visiting the Sick and Helping Others: If you know someone who is ill or in need, take the time to visit and offer your help and support.
- Dhuhr and Asr Prayers: Perform the Dhuhr and Asr prayers on time and with sincerity.
- Dhikr and Istighfar: Engage in continuous remembrance of Allah throughout the day, seeking forgiveness (Istighfar) for your sins.
- Maghrib Prayer: Perform the Maghrib prayer on time.
- Isha Prayer : Pray Isha in the masjid and end your night well. Sleep early if you don’t have any important task to do.
- Qiyam-ul-Lail (Night Prayer): If possible, spend some time in Qiyam-ul-Lail, the voluntary night prayer. This can be done before or after sleeping.
- Self-Reflection and Repentance: Take some time before sleeping to reflect on your actions and seek forgiveness from Allah for any shortcomings.
Remember, the intention behind each action is crucial, so always aim to do these acts with sincerity and devotion to Allah. Also, try to maintain a positive and helpful attitude towards others throughout the day, as every kind gesture and good deed can earn you rewards from Allah.
Lastly, it’s important to be consistent with these practices beyond just Fridays. The best deeds are those done consistently, even if they are small, rather than sporadically with a lot of enthusiasm but followed by negligence. May Allah accept your efforts and grant you abundant blessings and rewards.
