Transliteration:

Translation:
“My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants.”
Surah Naml Ayat 19

Things to Remember

  1. Rather than feeling sorry for ourselves and focusing on our shortcomings, we should look for the many gifts Allah has already bestowed upon us. We all have positive characteristics and special qualities that make us stand out.
  2. Prophet Sulaiman (as) received a kingdom unlike any other. Allah (swt) had also given him the ability to manipulate winds, mankind, and jinns, as well as the ability to interpret ant communication. Many men would have been corrupted by Prophet Sulaiman’s power, but he was never corrupted since he was always appreciative.
  3. Because they can then promote and sell us the products they’ve manufactured as answers, our society and media will always bombard us with commercials focusing on things we need. However, if we start with how blessed we are rather than what we need, we will develop the same desire to praise Allah (swt) that Prophet Sulaiman did. Remember that whatever you focus on in your mind determines how you feel; therefore, if you start by asking yourself better questions, you will achieve better results.
