One of the most effective methods to draw closer to Allah and convey our vulnerability and dependence on Him is to ask for His assistance. “Dua is the essence of worship,” the Prophet ﷺ said, implying that it is the ultimate manifestation of one’s humility and submission. It is much more necessary to sincerely pray to Allah for consolation and protection during times of adversity and suffering. Allah, the All-Powerful and Majestic, declares:

فَلَوْلَا إِذْ جَاءَهُم بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا وَلَٰكِن قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

Translation: If only they had humbled themselves when Our tragedy struck. But their hearts hardened, and Shaytan persuaded them that their actions were good.

The significance of making a prayer to Allah cannot be emphasised. “Du is one of the most helpful remedies,” Ibn al-Qayyim said. It is the tragedy’s opponent; it repels, cures, prevents, and alleviates or minimises calamity if it befalls [one]. It is the believer’s weapon.”

Dua is a type of prayer that can be performed at any time and place with no set time or location. It is regarded as a weapon with which we might transform our circumstances by enlisting the assistance of Almighty Allah. Dua has the power to influence your fate, so employ it in every situation since it will always bring you closer to Almighty Allah. He has retained his belief in a single God and has condemned all forms of idolatry. Dua is primarily a submission to Allah and a demonstration of one’s dependence on Him.

Making Dua to Allah Almighty has numerous benefits, some of which are given below:

Loss of arrogance – When we make a Dua, we acknowledge that Allah is the one creator, the Mighty, and that everything is under His authority. Before Him, we are nothing, and we must beg Him for help.

Dua fulfilment– For those who find their Duas are not accepted on a regular basis, there are two options: the Dua will be accepted later in this life or in the next, or Allah will give something better than that.

Dua has the power to change fate – Prophet (SAW) said, “Dua diverts fate and good deeds lengthen the age.” (Tirmidhi)

Dua opens the doors of Mercy – The Holy Prophet (SAW) said: “For whoever has opened the door of Dua, for him the gates of mercy are open.” (Tirmidhi)
