Kazakh citizens send 100 yurts to Turkiye for earthquake survivors

According to QazMonitor, Kazakhstani citizens raised money to erect approximately 100 yurts as temporary housing for people who lost their homes as a result of the Turkiye earthquake.
Kazakhstan’s government promised to donate $1 million in humanitarian relief to Turkiye and support the Syrian side via the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to help earthquake victims in both Turkiye and Syria.
Additionally, volunteers in Kazakhstan are organising financial contributions as well as gifts of essentials like food, clothing, and hygiene.
Data on the fund-raising activities for the yurt construction in Turkish cities was provided by journalist Nurbek Bekbau.
“We were successful in raising $20,000,000, and we have already transferred the funds to buy 45 yurts. It cost 17.3 million dollars. We intend to purchase home items with the balance, says Bekbau.
The journalist also revealed that numerous businesspeople from Kazakhstan had backed the idea and bought an additional 50 yurts.
He and twelve other volunteers flew to Turkiye to supervise the building of the yurts in the city of Kahramanmarash. A few days later, Bekbau published a few update videos examining the city’s initial building projects.
“I’ve heard that after an earthquake, it gets significantly cooler. Additionally, it’s freezing outside. To test how warm it is inside, we are spending the night in a yurt that we made, he said.
Bekbau estimates that one yurt can hold roughly twenty people, but that heaters, an electric stove, and blankets are still required.
