Qatar strongly condemns Danish Quran burnings in Ramadan

The condemnation follows several far-right European incidents of Quran desecration.
Qatar called the Danish Quran burning “heinous” and a “serious provocation” to over 2 billion Muslims worldwide “particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.”
Patrioterne Gar Live, a far-right anti-Muslim group, desecrated the Quran and Turkish flag outside the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned on Saturday that accepting repeated Quranic violations under the “pretext of freedom of expression” feeds violence, jeopardises peaceful coexistence, and deepens double standards.

Doha condemned all hate speech based on ideology, race, or religion and the politicisation of religious and other sanctuaries, the ministry said.
It warned that repeated calls to target Muslims worldwide have led to a dangerous rise in anti-Islamic bigotry and Islamophobic discourse.
Hate crimes have plagued Europe, prompting this statement.
Last week, the same Islamophobic group burned the Turkish flag and Quran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen while displaying bigoted placards, which they live-streamed on Facebook.
