In the Qur’an, Allah tells us that humans have a strong desire for riches in several places.
The Prophet’s hadith “If the son of Adam had a valley full of gold, he would prefer to have two valleys” exemplifies the insatiable desire for riches. “By Allah, it is not poverty that I fear for you; rather, I worry that you will be granted the wealth of the world, just as it was given to those before you,” the Prophet added.

You’ll compete for it just as they did, and it’ll wreck you just like it did them.” The Prophet remarked, “Two hungry wolves wandering freely amid a flock of sheep are less damaging to them than a man’s hunger for wealth and fame is to his faith,” which is one of the most dramatic illustrations of this warning.

These hadith tries to instil a cautious attitude regarding the desire of riches, warning that it might harm a person. Rather than simply warning believers about the dangers of seeking money, Islamic teaching aims to rethink our relationship with money so that we might spend it wisely in Allah’s service.
