Dua to do on New Year

According to Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Hisham (radiyallahu ‘anhu), the Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) would memorise the following du’a for the beginning of the new year:

اللّهم أَدْخِلْهُ عَلينا بِالأمْنِ وَالإيمان، وَالسَّلامَةِ وَالإسْلام، وِجوارٍ مِّنَ الشَّيْطان، وَرِضْوَانٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمن

Allahumma adkhilhu ‘alayna bil amni wal iman, was salamati wal islam, wa jiwarim minash shaytan, wa ridwanim minar Rahman.

Translation

O Allah, grant us security, iman, safety, Islam, protection from Shaitan, and your pleasure in this year.

(Hadith: 6237, Mu’jamus Sahabah of Baghawi, & Al-Mu’jamul Awsat of Tabarani)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has ruled the Tabarani chain in a sound manner’ (hasan).

The chain quoted by ‘Allamah Baghawi for this narration has been certified as genuine by Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) (sahih).
