What are the six articles of faith in Islam?
2 min read
The six articles of Islamic faith are fundamental beliefs that form the foundation of the religion of Islam. These beliefs are based on the Quran, the holy book of Islam, and the Hadith, the recorded teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The six articles of faith are as follows:
- Belief in Allah(Tawheed): The first and most important article of faith in Islam is the belief in Allah. Muslims believe that there is only one God, and He is the creator of the universe and everything in it. Allah is merciful, compassionate, and just, and Muslims worship Him and seek His guidance.
- Belief in the Prophets(Anbiya) Muslims believe in all the prophets of God, from Adam to Muhammad. They believe that these prophets were sent to guide humanity and teach them about God’s laws and commandments. Muslims regard Prophet Muhammad as the last and final prophet of God.
- Belief in the Holy Books(Kutub) Muslims believe in all the holy books that were revealed to the prophets, including the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel, and the Quran. The Quran is considered to be the final and complete revelation of God’s message to humanity, and it is the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims.
- Belief in the Angels(Malaikah) Muslims believe in the existence of angels, who are created by God to serve Him and carry out His commands. They believe that angels are messengers of God and are responsible for recording the deeds of humans.
- Belief in the Day of Judgment(Qiyamah) Muslims believe that there will be a day when all human beings will be resurrected and brought before God for judgment. On that day, all will be held accountable for their deeds, and those who have lived a righteous life will be rewarded with eternal paradise, while those who have lived an evil life will be punished with eternal hellfire.
- Belief in Divine Decree(Qadr) Muslims believe in the concept of divine decree, or qadr, which means that everything that happens in the universe is according to God’s will and plan. Muslims believe that God has complete control over everything and that nothing can happen without His permission.
In conclusion, the six articles of Islamic faith are essential beliefs that shape the worldview and practice of Muslims. These beliefs provide a framework for understanding the purpose of life, the nature of God, and the relationship between God and humanity. By adhering to these beliefs, Muslims strive to lead a righteous life and fulfill their ultimate purpose of worshipping and pleasing Allah.
